Glint continues Quayola’s research on observing nature and its phenomena through sophisticated technological apparatus. The title Glint refers to the shimmer of light on the water that occurs when the sun directly hits its surface, creating a brief yet intense luminous reflection.

Quayola interprets the traditional practice of painting reflections on the water’s surface, and the allure of such glimmers and luminescence, which have always been subjects of study for impressionist painters, through the perspective and sensitivity of machines.

The motion of the waves is thus translated into a sculptural object generated by algorithmic simulations. The algorithm must then endeavor to reproduce the ethereal modulations of shape and color that the human eye perceives and recognizes as oceanic movements, delving into their formal configurations, geometries, subtle reflections, and glimmers.
